Busted! Don't Believe These Myths About Interior Design!

K Wohler Interiors |

When redecorating your home or office, you may be hesitant or intimidated by the idea of hiring an interior designer. Why engage a professional and spend so much when you can find ideas and products on the internet? However, certified interior designers have the knowledge and intuition to not only design an objectively stylish space but also create perfect living energy that balances your purpose and personality. Such a wealth of knowledge will never be found online.

Unfortunately, when it comes down to utilizing the services of an interior designer, people are either afraid to take that necessary step, or if they do, they fail to explain all their design preferences and wants. In most cases, this is due to the misconceptions or myths associated with the profession which are often fabricated and have no proximity to the truth.

At K Wohler Interiors, I have been transforming homes and enhancing lives for the past twenty years, and continually work towards dispelling doubts and misconceptions people have about this line of work. Through this post, I am continuing my drive by debunking three of the most believed myths about interior designing and designers.

Myth 1: Interior designers are not affordable.

A lot of people assume that interior designers are meant for the rich. This falsehood is what stops most people from picking up the phone and calling a designer.

The truth is that designers will work within your budget. For example, if you want help with only one room or wall color, most are willing to offer advice for those small, budget-friendly projects. At K Wohler Interiors, I offer two different service packages for just this reason. You have the option of purchasing either three hours or five hour day consultations. You can use this time to pick my brain for any of your design dilemmas!

Myth 2: Designers are omniscient.

While most designers will undoubtedly know a lot more about design than the average layperson, it doesn’t make them all-knowing. As a client, you must be clear and concise about your wants, needs and budget constraints.

Designers can only give you what they know, and if information is lacking, well, then they will fill in the blanks with their ideas of what you require. It may be a dream-come-true for a designer to hear the words ‘Do whatever you want,’ but this scenario will unlikely result in a house that speaks to you.

Myth 3: My modest home is not worthy of design.

No matter how large or small a house may be, it deserves great design. While it may seem that design is only for the rich and famous, it is simply untrue. Regardless of size, your home should be your castle. I believe everybody should live in a beautiful space that they are proud of, and as mentioned above, everyone can afford design. A small budget can also create a well-designed home.

At K Wohler Interiors, I work hard to ensure that your house perfectly matches your style while working seamlessly to support your lifestyle. My goal is to take your stress away and turn your small, modest space into one you are proud to call home.
